The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.
The Government pays 100% of the National Minimum Wage for a 25-hour week for six months, plus National Insurance and pension contributions. Employers can top this up to a full time role if they wish.
Cumbria Chamber of Commerce acts as an approved Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Gateway provider for Kickstart and they’ve already had almost 400 placements approved, with 50 of these positions now filled.
To support this, a new Kickstart placement vacancy page has been launched on the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce website, which includes a variety of job placements. The list will be updated regularly and isn’t exhaustive but is there to give an idea of the roles available to young people.
